A Little Bit About Juneteenth

Juneteenth (June 19th) marks the day in 1865 when enslaved people in Texas finally received word that they were free – more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It’s a day of joy, reflection, community, and pride. Celebrating it with kids is a wonderful way to start meaningful conversations about history, freedom, and equality in an age-appropriate way.

These placemats bring in lots of that symbolism – from the year 1865 and the raised fists of freedom, to doves of peace, confetti, and kids waving flags – so little ones are absorbing the spirit of the holiday while they play!
